A hand on the steering wheel and a brief glance at the instrument cluster are enough. The purpose of the BMW 6 Series Coupé is absolutely clear: maximum sporty flair in stylish surroundings. All controls are orientated towards the driver and can be used intuitively. Functionality and sporty design are perfectly balanced. Enjoy all the attributes of a sports car without having to do without exclusive comfort.
The multifunctional instrument display with Black Panel technology and a screen diagonal of 10.25″ provides a highly impressive visualisation of the driving experience. At the same time, it helps the driver to concentrate on the road ahead by displaying relevant information and prevents distraction.
Three different modes and their specific characteristics – each of which have their own colour scheme and graphic style – can be displayed in the instrument cluster: COMFORT, ECO PRO and SPORT modes. While COMFORT mode largely retains the appearance familiar up to now, blue tones dominate the display in ECO PRO mode, in which the new EfficientDynamics and Bonus Range displays aid the driver in achieving the most efficient driving style possible. SPORT mode, in contrast, is recognisable by its red colours, and includes an engine output display.
The multifunctional instrument display also allows navigational information to be displayed, including tips from the route-ahead assistant, as well as lists from the entertainment and telephone functions.
The wind deflector makes driving more pleasant for the driver and front passenger by providing effective protection from draughts at neck and shoulder-height, even when travelling at high speeds. The mesh construction spans the width of the seating area and increases driving comfort without disrupting the convertible experience. Even when it is in place, the wind deflector can be lifted to place items on the rear seats. When it is not needed, it can easily be folded together and put away thanks to its collapsible sides. Its slim size means that it can be compactly stored in the luggage compartment, for example.
Enjoy open-air freedom while retaining your own distinctive environment − an apparent contradiction which the BMW 6 Series Convertible resolves perfectly. While the cockpit exudes sporty flair all round, the rear comprises seats which are styled to look like sporty single seats.
While you enjoy the pleasure of open-top driving, drinks can be placed securely in the centre armrest of the rear seat or in the centre console at the front. There is convenient space for small items and the automatic air conditioning with 2-zone control allows to be set individually for each seat. Or you can lower the glass rear window independently of the softtop to create an effective, pleasant fresh-air climate.
The luggage compartment offers 300 litres of space when the softtop is open. When closed, this is increased to 350 litres.
Make the most of open-top driving pleasure: Every switch, every indicator and every control in the BMW 6 Series Convertible is always precisely where you would intuitively expect it to be.
To the left of the steering wheel, you will find the switch for driver assistance systems and light settings, while directly in front of you is the instrument cluster with all information relevant to driving and safety − which can be projected directly into your field of vision by means of the optional BMW Head-Up Display.
Just to the driver’s right there is space for the optional, free-standing 10.25″” full-colour display. Directly below are the favourite buttons, allowing self-defined functions and settings to be accessed directly. A little lower down are the air conditioning controls.
The gear selector lever with Driving Experience Control is located in the centre console − immediately adjacent and intuitively within the driver’s reach. Next to this − also easy for the front passenger to operate with one hand − is the iDrive Touch Controller.
Innovative and easy to operate – the comfort access system makes it possible to open the vehicle doors and start the engine without using the car key. The key, which may be in a trouser pocket or briefcase, is automatically recognised upon approaching the car. Once the door has been automatically unlocked, the driver can get in and start the engine by pressing the Start/Stop button. Functional reliability is guaranteed thanks to key authentication.
When temperatures outside are low, the driver can still begin his or her drive in a comfortably preheated vehicle, because the temperature of the interior can be adjusted regardless of engine function via the Auxiliary heating, including the convenient timer function. It also keeps the windowpanes free of fog and frost. The auxiliary heating is activated and operated via a separate remote control, the My BMW Remote App or the iDrive Controller.
A water heating device acts as the heating source. It is supplied with energy by the fuel system. The cold engine is also pre-heated by the device. This further reduces fuel consumption during the warm-up phase. The Auxiliary heating can be activated automatically at a pre-selected time when there is an outside temperature of below 15°C or manually turned on at any temperature.
